Ian presented findings from TRAC surveys showing a continuing problem with loose and redundant items. A recent survey over a 13-day period on a fairly new asset generated almost 200kg worth of items. Ian showed examples of the items found with certain items recurring, suggesting poor housekeeping as a significant factor. A number of loose tools were removed and Ian noted and demonstrated that adherence to the Safe Use of Tools at Height guidance would remedy this. Education and Awareness was therefore a key TRAC recommendation.
